Visite de la Plantation Oak Alley
- Vacherie, Louisiana
- 2 heures
About this experience
The history of Oak Alley began around 1700 when a French settler built a small pioneer house in front of which he planted an alley of 28 oak trees (which today have a span of 50 meters), forming an elegant avenue of 400 meters long leading to Mississippi. Around 1830, the little house was replaced by a more prestigious house on the initiative of a wealthy sugar cane planter, member of a famous Creole family. Then it passed into the hands of many owners who did not always take care of it ... Oak Alley was restored in 1925 but its original appearance has been preserved and inspires a lot of admiration and respect. It is certainly the most photographed plantation in Louisiana!
